Amanda Blocker has joined the staff at Faith, Hope, and Charity Staff
as a
Qualified Mental Retardation Professional (QMRP). This position is
responsible for creating, coordinating, implementing and tracking programs
for the children we serve. She also serves on several internal committees
related to the care of the children. Blocker grew up in Laurens, Iowa,
and
graduated from Laurens-Marathon high school. After graduation she attended
the University of Iowa, obtaining a degree in Psychology. Prior to coming
to
Faith, Hope and Charity, she worked with people with disabilities at St.
Luke’s Health System and REM Iowa Inc. in Cedar Rapids. Blocker
says her
career has been very rewarding so far; “My position here gives me
the
opportunity to see the children become more independent and learn new
skills. It’s heartwarming to watch the children grow and reach their
fullest
potential”. When she’s not at Faith, Hope & Charity, Blocker
enjoys golf,
cheering on the Iowa Hawkeye’s, spending time with family, boating,
and
shopping. Blocker joins Michaela Boyd who has worked as a QMRP since 2004.
