(Storm Lake, IA) Parents, siblings and advocates of the children served
by Faith, Hope & Charity gathered Saturday for the organizations annual
Family Day. Nearly 100 people gathered at the non-profits campus to participate
in the event, which had a TeamFest theme this year. The fun filled day
included activities like a football toss, volleyball, and obstacle course.
During the first half of the day, the children and their siblings took
in a movie at Vista III Theaters while the parents attended a workshop.
The workshop focused on national, state and local issues regarding services
for children with disabilities and Medicaid. The second half of the day
started with a stadium style lunch served at the Faith, Hope & Charity
Community Services Center. The menu included beef on a stick, corndogs,
nachos and frozen ice cream treats. After lunch, the games began. The
FHC campus was filled with a variety of competitive games like throwing
a football through a tire, a basketball free throw competition, and an
obstacle course. Inside the FHC garages, Social Services Director Bev
Miller filled bags with popcorn for all of the “athletes”.
The TeamFEST day also included a temporary tattoo shop. Faith, Hope & Charity
hosts the Family Day event each year with a different theme. The event
gives families a chance to meet with Faith, Hope & Charity staff as
well as enjoy a fun day with their child.
